August 2009 .........  What WAS new last month

MPT Video Now on YouTube. In June, Maryland Public Television toured Mark Supik & Co. and aired their visit on Made in Maryland. If you missed the show, you can now see the video on YouTube. Mark takes you around the shop, turns a spindle takes you through the beer tap museum. You can also watch John, Joe, Danielle, Mark & Nancy all hard at work (for the camera).

Sports Tap Handles Travel to Wyoming. The Library Brewing Company in Laramie, Wyoming needed sports themed tap handles for their sports bar. These basketball, hockey, football, golf & tennis tap markers were customized for them, and are now available for your home kegerator or microbrewery. Visit the Beer Tap Gallery on our website to see the entire collection.

Artists Collaborate to Make Artful Flyswatters. Painted screens are an East Baltimore artform and screen painter Anna Pasqualucci teamed up with Mark to produce some serious flyswatters with custom woodturned handles and hand painted traditional screen scenes. They were on display this month at a Skylofts Gallery show of Baltimore Screenpainters and will be on sale at the Highlandtown Market on Saturdays (see below).

Lathe & Truck on the Road to the Highlandtown Market. Mark & Nancy loaded up the truck with woodturned bowls, wine stoppers, garden dibbles, mushrooms and flyswatters and headed for the Highlandtown Artket this month. As the guest artist in Magnolia Designs' tent, Mark demonstrated woodturning. The spinning lathe attracted almost as many fans as the 1953 Chevy Panel Truck. The market continues every Saturday morning through the end of October.

Woodturners tour Mark Supik & Co. Mark & Nancy welcomed the Mid-Maryland Woodturners to the shop one Saturday in July for a tour of the shop, some woodturning demonstrations and lunch from DiPasquale's. A few of the club members promised to come back for woodturning classes in the fall.
