What WAS new last month? ........February 2010 .........  What happened next?

Mark Supik Woodturning Workshops had a great weekend at The Woodworking Show in Timonium last month. Mark, John, Joe & Danielle took turns demonstrating on the Oliver lathe over the three day show. We were in good company in the 'woodturning corner' with our friends from The Chesapeake Woodturners and The Baltimore Area Woodturners. Our raffle winner this year was Joe Bateman. He won a free woodworking workshop at Mark Supik Woodturning. Congratulations, Joe!

Paddle Style Handles like these created for MacTarnahan's show off original graphic designs by microbreweries. Our ability to produce labels in-house for small quantities of tap handles has led to an increase in popularity of our 'paddle style' handles. The wooden handles are cut to match the label's profile, the handles are painted to match label colors and the labels applied to faces and sides. See more examples of these affordable handles in our beer tap gallery.

Please visit a new part of our website, our architectural woodturning gallery. We'll be posting photos of samples of our architectural millwork as it's ready to leave the shop. We'd love to add more photos of our woodturned pieces once they are installed, so please send in photos of your completed staircases, porches, and curved moldings. If we've reproduced a furniture part for you and you can send us a photo of the pieces once it's refinished, we'll add them to our gallery.

Weyerbacher has grown! The Weyerbacher Brewing Company of Easton, Pennsylvania has a new, taller tap handle. The new beer marker, made from locally grown lumber, stands 15 1/2 inches. Danielle carved and cast the urethane "W" for the handle's top. Visit our beer tap gallery to see more of Danielle's sculpted tap handles. Our custom tap handles are being shipped to micro breweries around the country.

Look for some great woodturners at this year's American Craft Council Show from February 25 - 28th at the Baltimore Convention Center. If you're at the show on Sunday, come to the demonstration area to see Mark and California woodturner, Jerry Kermode between 11 and 1 pm.
