Hand Spikes for the Fort McHenry Cannons

Nancy Supik
September 19, 2018

We were asked by the folks at Fort McHenry to reproduce hand spikes. These tapered poles are used to move the cannons into position. Joe Supik did the turning, they will do the finishing at the fort.

About 4 minutes into this video you can see the Fort McHenry Guard using the hand spike as they reenact the firing of the cannons.
